Mawana Sugars logs Rs 65 cr net profit in Q4

Mawana Sugars today reported a standalone net profit of Rs 64.92 crore for the March quarter on account of higher sales and fall in expenses.

The company had posted a net loss of Rs 68.42 crore in the same period a year ago.

Its net sales rose to Rs 461.38 crore in the quarter under review, up 26.48 per cent from Rs 364.76 crore in the year-ago period, Mawana Sugars said in a BSE filing.

The company reported 8.51 per cent decline in overall expenses at Rs 383.7 crore compared with Rs 419.43 in January -March quarter of 2014-15.

In a separate filing, Mawana Sugars said its Board of Directors has resolved "to explore the possibility of business restructure through scheme of arrangement and to explore the possibility of disposing of its operating unit located at Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh to meet its obligation to discharge its liability towards farmers and lenders".
 

Mawana Sugars stock was trading flat at Rs 38.85 apiece on BSE in late-morning session.
