Max temperatures close to normal in Punjab, Haryana

The maximum temperature today hovered close to normal limits in most parts of Punjab and Haryana.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, registered a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, a MeT department report said here.

In Haryana, Ambala's maximum was 40.6 degrees Celsius, while Hisar's maximum settled at 42.5 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. Karnal registered a high of 40 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar's high was 40.4 degrees Celsius. Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum temperatures of 40.7 and 41.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The MeT department predicted rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days.
