Max temperatures hover above normal in Punjab & Haryana

Maximum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana today hovered above-normal levels as mainly dry weather and high humidity prevailed in the region.

According to the MeT office, Union Territory Chandigarh recorded a high of 36.8 degree Celsius, one degree above normal.

Ambala in Haryana recorded a three-degree above-normal high at 38.1 degree Celsius, while Hisar experienced a maximum of 40.2 degree Celsius, up one notch.

Karnal registered a high of 36.6 degree Celsius, two notches above normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum settled at 38.7 degree Celsius, two degrees above normal.

Patiala too experienced a hot day at 38 degree Celsius, up three degrees, while Ludhiana's maximum settled at 36.7 degree Celsius.
 

Sultry conditions and high humidity levels prevailed in most of the places in the two states during the past 24 hours.

According to the MeT office here, no major rainfall activity has been forecast in the two states until tomorrow.

The southwest monsoon had hit the two states earlier this week.
