As light to moderate rains continued to lash many places in Punjab and Haryana, the maximum temperatures hovered below the normal limits in the states for the third day today.
Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states that received light rains, recorded a high of 31.7 degrees Celsius, down six notches against the normal limits, a MeT Department report said here.
In Punjab, Amritsar received light rain and the maximum temperature in the holy city dropped by ten notches against the normal, settling at 28.6 degrees Celsius.

Patiala's maximum settled at 33.4 degrees Celsius, five degrees below the normal after the rains today.
In Haryana, Karnal, which received light rain, recorded a high of 32 degrees Celsius, five notches below the normal limits.
Ambala's maximum temperature settled at 34.1 degrees Celsius, down five degrees, after being lashed by rains.
Hisar, which was lashed by heavy rain yesterday, recorded 33.7 degrees Celsius, seven notches below normal.
According to the MeT forecast valid over the next two days, rain or thunder showers are likely at isolated to scattered places in Punjab and Haryana.
