Maximum temperatures hover above normal in Pb & Hry

Most places in Punjab and Haryana today recorded this season's highest maximum temperature which hovered close to or above the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

Chandigarh was hotter by two degrees than normal at 39.1 degrees Celsius, the MeT Department report said here.

In Haryana, Hisar was the hottest place at 41 degrees Celsius, up two degrees than normal, while Ambala braved a hot day at 39.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal limits. Karnal's maximum settled at 38.4 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, both Ludhiana and Patiala registered a high of 40.1 degrees Celsius, up by two notches each.

Amritsar's maximum temperature settled at 39.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
