Maximum temperatures hover around normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures hovered around normal in Punjab and Haryana as rains eluded most parts of the region today.

The maximum day temperature in the Union Territory of Chandigarh touched 34.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, the Met office said.

Amritsar and Ludhiana in Punjab recorded highs of 33.2 and 34 degrees respectively, it said.

The maximum in Ambala, Bhiwani and Hisar in Haryana settled at 34.9, 33.8 and 34 degrees respectively.

The weather office predicted light to moderate rains at many places in the two states in the next couple of days.
