Maximum temperatures hover below normal across Haryana, Punjab

With light rains lashing parts of Haryana and Punjab for the past four days, the maximum temperatures today hovered below normal limits across the two states and their common capital Chandigarh.

Chandigarh today recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degree Celsius, two notches below normal level, the MeT department report said here.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 37.8 degree Celsius, down one notch, while Hisar's maximum temperature settled at 37.6 degree Celsius, down by four degrees.

Karnal recorded a high of 37.4 degree Celsius, down six notches.

Amritsar in Punjab was cooler by nine notches than normal, recording a maximum of 31.2 degree Celsius.
 

Ludhiana registered a high of 35.6 degree Celsius, down by four degrees, while Patiala's maximum temperature settled four notches below normal at 37.1 degree Celsius.

According to the MeT Department forecast valid until tomorrow, light to moderate rain/thunder showers may occur at isolated places in the two states.
