Maxx Mobilink Private Limited, a leading manufacturer and marketer of mobile phones and accessories, is planning to start manufacturing cell phones at its Haridwar unit from April this year, a top company official said today.

The products are presently imported and customised in the country, the company's CMD, Ajjay R Agarwal, told reporters here.

No additional investment is required for the new initiative as the company has already set up the facility, where accessories are being manufactured since 2006, he said.

"We already have this set up of manufacturing since 2006. We were one of the biggest manufacturers of mobile accessories. So, we will start manufacturing of mobile phones in the same unit. We hardly require any additional investment because the infrastructure is ready which we are utilising to produce other electronic products," he said.

One lakh phones per day is the capacity at the moment, he said.

"Our (sales) target is about 1.5 million pieces a month for 2015-16," Agarwal said.

"In (FY) 14-15, we have done a business of Rs 660 crore. In terms of volume, it is about five million phones," he said at the announcement for launch of the company's 'Exclusive Smartcare Centres' here.
