Mayawati for CBI probe into charges against UP minister

BSP supremo Mayawati today demanded a CBI inquiry into charges of disproportionate assets and illegal mining against state's Mining Minister Gayatri Prajapati.

"A CBI inquiry should be ordered and all facts brought before people," the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister told newspersons when asked to comment on the minister, who is facing charges of disproportionate assets and illegal mining.

"If he has done anything wrong in the mining department, it should come out in the open...," Mayawati said.

Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta has served notices to the family members of Prajapati while probing a complaint of disproportionate assets.

On media reports that the previous state government headed by her had extended protection to Noida Chief Engineer Yadav Singh, who is now under suspension for amassing massive wealth, she retorted, "Ask the present government which has given him a clean chit.
