DMK today criticised the Rangasamy led AINRC Government here for failure to procure 50 per cent of the MBBS seats in private medical colleges under government quota for admission for 2014-15 academic year.

Instead of ordering the private colleges to part with 50 per cent seats, the government had been holding talks every year to fix the ratio of seats, DMK Puducherry unit Convenor M A S Subramanian told reporters here.

When permission was given to private players to start the colleges they were directed through an order to earmark 50 per cent of the seats for government quota. But this stipulation had been honoured more in its breach than in observance, he said.

The private colleges had agreed to surrender 265 seats out of the total 900 MBBS seats for government quota this year following a meeting with Chief N Rangasamy recently.
