Counselling for MBBS course under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU) began here today amid confusion with students claiming that they were not informed of the new schedule after the process was deferred twice and Delhi High Court had ordered a stay on it.
IPU officials claimed that "SMS informing the schedule of counselling was sent to all qualified candidates", although students alleged that majority of them had not received any information from the varsity.
"I visited the university as per the earlier counselling schedule as we were not informed about the process being deferred or any other change being notified and got to know that it has begun from today," an aspirant said.

The alleged lack of communication posed more difficulties for aspirants who are based outside Delhi and could not make travel plans accordingly.
The university spokesperson, however, maintained that the counselling process began smoothly and no issues were reported about non-receipt of messages.
The Delhi High Court had stayed the counselling till June 29 after the schedule was changed twice over errors in test questions led to revaluation and revision of results.
