Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) blamed SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav of splitting the anti-Modi secular vote, which they claim would lead to the strengthening of BJP and the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

"The recent spate of communal riots in Uttar Pradesh during SP regime coupled by Mulayam's move to field candidates in Gujarat, where the party has very little support base have set the alarm bells ringing within the Muslim community," Razaullah Khan, MBMC president, said.

The teachers' representative at the AMU's Executive Council announced that a team of the MBMC, led by film personality Mahesh Bhatt, would be leaving for Gujarat next week to campaign for the Congress Party.
