MCD drive against encroachment in north, east Delhi

The civic authorities in east Delhi today removed encroachments in several parts of the trans Yamuna area, including the famous Mangal Bazar, located in Laxmi Nagar area.

The action was taken by different branches of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation(EDMC).

"As part of the enforcement measures, 30 health trades were prosecuted and 10 tandoor challan have been done in different localities of the Shahdara South zone. Encroachment removal action has been carried out in the Laxmi Nagar main market areas, including the Mangal Bazar," an EDMC official said.

Fifty vehicles, including 17 from Seelampur, 16 from Shahdara and 17 from Bhajanpura, were impounded during the drive.

 

Stilt portions of six properties were sealed on account of misuse at the Priya Enclave and demolition action was taken in two properties at Shastri Park and Jhilmil, the official said.

Anti-malaria operation staff has served 117 notices to those householders in whose premises mosquito breeding or mosquitogenic conditions have been detected.

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) also conducted the anti-encroachment drive in its six zones.

The action included removal of encroachments around superintendent of police Mukherjee Civic Center and its surroundings, New Delhi railway station and its surroundings and from Mithai PulChowk to Sadar Bazaar Chowk on Kutubh Road, all under the City-Sadar Paharganj zone, the NDMC official said.

Twenty six vehicles were also impounded during the drive from the city and Rohini zones.

The encroachments, including temporary and permanent structures, were removed and demolished in all the zones.

Eleven factories were also sealed by the general branch of the NDMC, in the Rohini zone, during the drive, the official said.
