Free from hectic campaigning schedule for the MCD polls, leaders of the political parties today engaged themselves in their favourite pastimes like singing, meeting their friends and reading books.

"After quite a long gap, today I took out my harmonium and practiced singing. I cleared my throat that was choked by countless speeches in the rallies, roadshows and meetings," Delhi BJP president and Bhojpuri singer-actor Manoj Tiwari said.

The voting for 270 wards of the three municipal corporations in the national capital was held yesterday, and counting of votes will take place on April 26.

The leaders of the BJP and the Congress unwound themselves and spent time with their families and friends besides indulging in their hobbies.

Tiwari who took over as Delhi BJP president, in December last year, followed a hectic schedule to touch nearly 250 of the total 272 municipal wards in South, North and East Delhi municipal corporations.

It was a "good feeling" to wake up and discover that there were no pressing schedules, he said.

"Not only I managed to sing, I also dusted and cleaned and pruned hedges and twigs at my residence," Tiwari said.

Delhi Congress leader and chief spokesperson Sharmishtha Mukherjee too enjoyed her day cleaning up her house and having lunch with friends besides, meeting her father and President Pranab Mukherjee after a while.

"Relaxed, had lunch with friends at Khan Market. Also, some cleaning up. Also, I met my father after quite a few days," she told PTI.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta too spent time at his home and read his favourite books.

"It was a great relaxation while talking to family members and being able to lay my hands on some of the favourite books after a while," he said.
