Stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has been invoked against 12 members of a tipper gang for their alleged involvement in a robbery of Rs one crore at a stock broking office in the city, police said today.
Special public prosecutor Ajay Misar yesterday submitted a 1,100-page charge sheet in the local court on behalf of city's Ambad police station in this regard.
On September 27 last year, the gang had allegedly robbed over Rs one crore cash from Shilpa stock broking office at Uttam Nagar area in the city and had also fired in the air while decamping.
The accused against whom MCOCA has been invoked are - Ganesh Wagh alias Ganya Kawalya (tipper gang leader), Sameer Pathan, Nagesh Sonawane, Nitin Kale, Sunil Anarthe, Anil Aher, Sunil Khokle, Sagar Bhadange, Krishna Patil, Sonal Bhadange, Nitin Malode and Pankaj Donde, police added.
