A headmistress of a government-run upper primary school in Odisha's Kendrapara district was today suspended for allegedly submitting a fictitious daily report on mid-day meal (MDM).
Ranjita Behera, headmistress of Karanja upper primary school in Mahakalpada block, was placed under suspension after it was found that she had inflated yesterday's students attendance and MDM quota, said Sangram Sahoo, the district education officer (DEO).
The accused headmistress, in her daily report, had mentioned that 130 students had come to the school.

The report, which was sent to state MDM online portal, yesterday, also mentioned all the 130 students had their meal, he said.
However, on scrutiny, it was detected that only 28 students had turned up at the school.
The rest of the students, 102 of them, were absent yesterday, he said.
