Speaking at the inauguration of an eco-tourism hut at Mansar, about 40-kms from here yesterday, Forests and Environment Minister Mian Altaf Ahmad said the government was keen on tapping the tourism potential in the state.
He said a massive campaign has been launched to woo foreign as well as domestic tourists.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 39.90 lakh, the eco-hut is equipped with all facilities including lodging and boarding, the minister said.
Ahmad said that a large population of the state was associated with the sector, and noted that people have to play their role in promoting tourism by way of extending all possible assistance to the tourists during their stay here.
The Minister said that people living near the forests play a key role in its protection, and can prevent encroachment.
