The Allahabad High Court today provided till April 19 further time to the Uttar Pradesh government to file a reply on the issue of renewal of meat shop licences which expired on March 31.
The order was passed by a division bench of justices Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and Sanjay Harkauli on a PIL filed by Saeed Ahmad seeking directions for renewal of meat shop licences.
The counsel for the state, L P Mishra, informed the court that a high-powered committee has undertaken the exercise to go into the issues and prayed for further time to file an affidavit.
The court then directed that the case be put up on April 19 along with the record of another writ petition filed in this connection.
