Emphasising on decentralisation of powers to grass-root level, the Jammu and Kashmir government has already put in place a set-up to ensure the implementation of orders that empower Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
"The necessary mechanism has already been put in place to ensure that the orders of empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions are implemented in letter and spirit," Minister for Rural development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar said here.
He was speaking at an interaction organised by the department of Rural Development to oversee the implementation of the orders of empowerment of PRI's at Satwari block.
Sagar said that the present government has already issued the orders for vesting the supervisory powers of 14 vital departments to Panchayats and any official should not violate the same.
"By ensuring the democratic decentralisation of powers, the people at grass root level are being involved in the day to day governance which forms the basis of democratic set-up," he said.
Sagar also asked the officials to involve the Panches and Sarpanches in the formulation and implementation of various welfare programmes.
