"We are not against electoral politics. But we do not think it is the only alternative to change the present system. Non-electoral people movements can also play a significant role in it. But people's movements should have representation of
all strata of society if it is to be a national movement," she told a press meet here.
Patkar was here to announce the biennial convention of the National Alliance of People Movements (NAPM), of which she is the national co-ordinator.
The three-day conference on 'Development and Politics: Alternatives' will begin on November 17 in Thrissur district in Kerala.
She said there was no need for a new party just to expose scandals as even organisations and people's movements could bring out such instances of corruption.
"A new political party by Kejriwal may have some impact and we are not against anyone's fight against corruption," she said.

Patkar said a new party could be evaluated only after it wins elections and exposes corruption of the political system by standing within it.
She said corporates are more responsible than politicians in corrupting the political and economic systems in the neoliberal world.
Their unwanted intervention in the administrative system created inequality in growth of society but people movements could pose a great challenge to them, she said.
She asked the UDF government in Kerala to implement the Madhav Gadgil report on Western Ghats, saying it is a 'practical report' and should be implemented urgently to protect the bio-diversity hotspot.
