"We have signed a deal with Xiaomi for Helio G90 series. They will be the first one to come up with smartphones with this gaming-focussed chipset in India.
"We are in talks with other OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) also," said TL Lee, General Manager of MediaTek's Wireless Communication business unit.
He said he expects the phones to be available for masses who like to play games on their handsets.
"The mobile gaming market is growing and device makers are looking to give consumers and especially gaming fans the best smartphone game-play experience. That is why we designed the G90 series. We always focus on democratisation of technology and so is the case with G90 series," Lee said.
Mediatek claims to have 42 per cent share in India smartphone market.
The Helio G90 series will also support up to 64 megapixel in single camera and multi-camera combinations along with photo shoot in low-light with a night shot mode.
