Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today sanctioned Rs 50,000 to a female Congress leader who accidentally set herself on fire, while setting fire to Chouhan's effigy during a protest, official sources said.

Sudha Neekhra's sari caught fire yesterday while she set fire to an effigy of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivran Sing Chouhan in Dabra town near Gwalior in protest against the alleged ill-treatment meted out to Congress MLA Imarti Devi during a recent 'Atal Jyoti' campaign.

When the MP chief minister learnt about the incident today morning, he immediately directed Gwalior district authorities to take care of her medical needs, sources said.

Neekhra was shifted to Gwalior from Dabra last night and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

Gwalior Collector P Narhari has sanctioned Rs 50,000 as medical assistance to the female Congress leader, through the District Red Cross.
