Odisha government today named two new state-run medical colleges at Balasore and Bolangir after two prominent persons of the localities, official sources said.
According to a resolution issued by health and family welfare department, the new government medical college at Balasore has been named as Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital.
Similarly, the Bolangir government medical college has been named as Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital.
Earlier, two government medical colleges at Koraput and Baripada were also named after two prominent persons.
While medical college at Koraput has been named as Saheed Laxman Naik, Medical College and Hospital, the medical college at Baripada is titled as Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital.
Three other medical colleges set up in Cuttack, Berhampur and Burla decades ago also were named after prominent personalities.
