Medical officer, health worker held for accepting bribe

A medical officer attached with a government hospital and a health worker have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thane for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 400 from a medical worker.

"The accused Ishwar Tithe (medical officer) and Amol Bodhe (health worker) demanded a bribe of Rs 400 from the complaint, who was working in the Vangani Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Ambernath," Sanjay Mohite, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Thane ACB was quoted as saying in an official release.

They had demanded money to issue his salary statement for September. Following a complaint, a trap was laid last evening and the duo was apprehended red-handed while accepting the bribe at the PHC, it said.
 

The duo has been arrested and a case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered in this connection, the release said adding investigations are underway.
