A medical superintendent of Talasari Rural Hospital in Palghar district was today arrested for demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said today.

Dr Rajesh H Khemnar had demanded the bribe from the complainant to issue a certificate, Deputy Superintendent of Thane ACB Sanjay Mohite said.

"The complainant was an intern working in the hospital and wanted the certificate from the superintendent for having completed the internship. However, he complained that Khemnar made a demand of Rs 10,000 for that," Mohite said.

An amount of Rs 1,000 was already paid. The ACB officials laid a trap at the hospital and caught the superintendent accepting another Rs 2,000.
