A medical practitioner was arrested and three minors were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in attacks on a school building and burning a wheel cart in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, police said today.
Yasir Mukdoomi was arrested and the three minors were taken into custody by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which was formed after arsonists tried to set ablaze the government boys middle school at Duderhama and burned the wheel cart of a fruit vendor on October 27, a police spokesman said.
"During the questioning, all the four confessed to their involvement in the crime," the spokesman claimed, adding all the accused were residents of Duderhama village.

During investigation, he said, it surfaced that Mukdoomi was the main "instigator" behind the incidents and the conspiracy to burn schools was hatched by him.
Besides, he provided petrol to the other accused and helped them make petrol bombs that caused fire.
The spokesman said police and civil authorities today organised a public interaction session in ITI Pattan in Baramulla district of north Kashmir to take suggestions from public for safeguarding the educational institutions.
"The issue of school burning was discussed threadbare and people were informed about efforts undertaken by district administration for security of schools," the spokesman said, adding public support was sought to implement the "safety plan" to protect the schools from arson.
He said the people were asked to remain vigilant and help police to unmask the miscreants who are damaging the schools.
The district authorities also appealed people to cooperate with administration for safety of schools and bringing education system back on rails.
The meeting ended with a resolve to join hands to defeat the nefarious designs of anti-social elements, the spokesman said.
