"The student, Prasenjit Parbat, lodged a complaint with Uluberia police station that his seniors beat him up fearing that he may pass information on the assault on the journalists on March 28," Superintendent of Police Syed Md Hossain Mirza said.
Parbat left the medical college hostel and went home in Uluberia and lodged the complaint on 10 April at Uluberia police station, Mirza said.
A case would be started and proper action would be taken against the accused after the local court permits the police, he said.
Dr Manjushree Roy, Principal of Burdwan Medical College and Hospital said that she was not aware of such assault on a medical college student.
