A 24-year-old medical student today allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving goods train near Hebatpur railway crossing, police said.
Sahil Buch, a resident of Vasna, was a student at the civic body-run Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital, they said.
His father told the police that he was not able to cope up with the pressure of his studies and took the extreme step under depression.
"He committed suicide as he could not bear the pressure of medical studies. He had no other problems," his father said in a statement to police.
Buch suffered severe head injuries after he jumped in front of a goods train near Hebatpur railway crossing and died on the spot.
Sola police have registered a case of accidental death.
The body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding they are also taking the statement of the driver of the goods train.
