A first year medical student of M P Shah College was today found lying in a pool of blood in his hostel room and later succumbed to injury during treatment, officials said.
A native of Nashik, Mudar Phirke (25), a first year student of Orthopaedic department, in M P Shah Medical College, was found lying in a pool of blood in his hostel room, they said.
The student, who joined the college on July 3, barely eight days ago, was found to have slit his throat with a sharp-edgeD weapon," a police official said.

The parents of the deceased have been informed about the incident, college sources said.
The police are conducting an investigation to find out whether this was a case of ragging by the seniors or suicide by the student, college sources said.
