Medical teams rush to village following man's death

Health department sources said the man had gone to his wife's place in Sulthan Bathery in Kerala and returned two days ago, with fever.He was then admitted to the Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode in the neighbouring state.

However, he died last night, sources said.

Since the cause of death in the death certificate was mentioned due to symptoms of plague, medical officials have rushed to the village and are checking whether any persons have been affected by such symptoms, the sources said.

Meanwhile, 13 workers in a Tea estate at Valaparai in Coimbatore district have been admitted to the Government hospital there, with mysterious fever since last night.

 

Though it was suspected that the disease could be viral attack, after consuming unhygienic water, officials are monitoring the situation, the sources said.
