"We are now focussing on the private-public partnership in the health sector in Jammu and Kashmir. We have already taken steps in this direction apart from streamlining the health services in the state," Sharma said during the inauguration here today.
This modern medical centre has a 45-50 bed capacity and few special rooms.
"I have already started Out Patient Doors (OPD) in Gandhi Nagar hospital in private sector with Medicity, Medanta and Fortis. They are providing diganostic facilities to the patients of critical diseases," Sharma said.
He said same model would be adopted to facilitate such private-public partnerships in health sector in Kashmir for which health institute at Gupkar has been opened and will soon be made operational. He said that his department would also focus on Health Tourism.
Sham called for close coordination between health department and field functionaries to extend adequate medical care to people, especially living in rural and far-flung areas of the state.
Expressing concern over the illegal practice of pre-natal sex determination, resulting in decreasing sex ratio in the country, the Minister said that government alone could not solve the problems. A change of mindset of the general public including the medical community was required, he said.
He hoped that JK Medicity and other such organisations will expand their activities in future as well.
