The agitating medicos staged protest outside the campus and shouted anti-government slogans.

They threatened to go on an indefinite strike if their demands were not met soon.

"We have been getting merely Rs 150 (per day). We are doctors, not labourers," a striking doctor said claiming their allowances were far below normal standards.

"Interns of medical colleges of Delhi, Haryana and HP are are given anywhere between Rs 9000 and 14,000 per month for their duties," he said.

The agitating interns said they had written to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal regarding their demands but nothing had been done so far.
