"Medicos should be more responsive towards patient care. They should further step up efforts to cater to the medical needs of ailing especially in view of scorching hot days," he said while chairing a high level meeting convened to review the functioning of Government Medical College (GMC) and associated hospitals here today.
Expressing concern over rush in GMC and associated hospitals, the minister cautioned all the concerned against any laxity on their part in serving the patients.
"Government will not hesitate to initiate strict action against the law performing officers and officials in case of any negligence towards their noble profession," he said.
The minister took stock of various services being extended to the ailing in associated hospitals and directed the concerned to devise an effective mechanism to deal with heavy rush of patients in summer season.
In view of frequent power failure in summer, even in hospitals, the minister directed the Power Development Department to ensure that unnecessary power cuts should not hamper the functioning of hospitals.
He also directed the medical authorities to ensure that all the necessary equipments are being serviced and checked regularly.
