Medium sugar drops on heavy supply, weak demand

Medium sugar prices dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to lack of demand from bulk consumers and stockists amid continued selling by mills.

Small sugar variety ended mixed after moving in a limited range owing to alternate bouts of buying and selling.

Medium sugar (M-30) slumped by Rs 34 per quintal to Rs 3,242/3,392 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,242/ 3,426.

Small sugar (S-30) was quoted at Rs 3,122/3,255 per quintal as against Rs 3,132/3,202 last weekend.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,242/3,392 (Rs 3,242/3,426).
 

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,122/3,255 (Rs 3,132/3,202).
