Medium sugar gains on retailers offtake, small sugar slips

Medium sugar extended its gain at the Vashi wholesale market here today on rising demand from retailers, while small sugar slipped due to lower demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Medium sugar (M-30) rose by Rs 6 per quintal to Rs 3,702/3,842 from Tuesday's level of Rs 3,696/3,842.

However, small sugar (S-30) moved down by Rs 8 per quintal to Rs 3,602/3,682 from yesterday's level of Rs 3,610/3,682.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,602/3,682 (Rs 3,610/3,682).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,702/3,842 (Rs 3,696/3,842).
