Kerala pugilist Meenakumari impressed one and all to be adjudged the most promising boxer in the just concluded first Monnet Steel Elite Women's National Championship at the Raipur Indoor Stadium, here today.
Battling in the bantam weight category (51-54 kg), Meenakumari outpunched Harayana's Sonia to emerge the clear winner.
Sonia though got a consolation 'Best Challenger' award with a spirited fight against Meenakumari.

The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) clearly dominated the Championship, sweeping the Champions Trophy, with a tally of 6 gold medals and 52 points. Haryana claimed the runner's up cup.
The championship saw a participation of 32 states and two Boards, in full stride.
Two hundred and thirteen Boxers, spanning the length and breadth of the country, participated in the six-day championship.
The Women's National Championship which was conducted after a hiatus of 2 years witnessed the complete representation of 10 weight categories.
