Meghalaya Chief Secretary Barkos Warjri today referred to the threats posed by Ebola virus in Africa and termed it as challenge considering people may travel from the affected regions.
"This is something which is threateneing the health and threatening lives of the people," Warjri said here.
"Health is something which is so important for us. All of us know that if we are unwell even with a cold or cough it disables us," he said at a three-day North East International Model United Nations (NEIMUN) meet in the state capital.

"Ebola is threatening perhaps large part of the world may be but now it is located largely in Western Africa. But it seems to affect people who have left that part of the world and may have infected others in their travels," he cautioned.
The chief secretary also termed the ongoing conflict in some of the Middle Eastern countries as an 'unusual war'.
"If you look at the world today there are two issues which have hogged headlines for the past few months. Ebola and the wars."
"The wars are taking place in the Middle East - Iraq and Siria. In my opinion it is an unsual war," Warjri said.
At the three-day session, issues relating to illicit trafficking in small arms, access to sanitation, gender equality, corruption and bribery, and rights of indigenous peoples, which are also pertinent to the Northeast, will be discussed by the delegates.
NEIMUN's objective is to encourage students on active participation and study of international organisations and global issues.
