Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari today stressed the importance of sensitizing people not only of their rights and duties but also of their responsibilities as citizens.
"It is important to also sensitise the people, specially at the grassroots level of not only their rights and duties, but also their responsibilities as citizens of the country," Justice Maheshwari said in his address to para-legal volunteers here.
He said the para-legal volunteers being the first point of contact to facilitate those seeking legal aid, play an important role in educating people.
The chief justice also urged judges, lawyers and government Officials to take part in the training and share their experiences to further enlighten and equip the volunteers to deal with various types of legal advices.
