Meghalaya CM briefs Rajnath Singh on law and order situation

The Home Minister was briefed on the steps taken to tackle the insurgency in Meghalaya, particularly in Garo hills region

Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him prevailing law and order situation in the Northeastern state.

During the 20-minute meeting, Sangma briefed the Home Minister on the steps taken to tackle the insurgency in Meghalaya, particularly in Garo hills region, official sources said.

The recent kidnapping and subsequent killing of an officer of the Intelligence Bureau and another person in Meghalaya also figured during the meeting.

The Home Minister assured the Chief Minister all central assistance to tackle the militancy in the state, sources said.
