"We are gaining grounds and we are confident of getting a majority in the House forming the next government in the state," Paul Lyngdoh, UDP working president told reporters after the central executive committee of the party here.
"The Congress is a divided house, but we are going to the polls unitedly. We are confident of becoming the single largest party and forming the government," he said.
In the 2008 elections, the party bagged 10 seats in the 60-member house in which Congress has 28 MLAs.
The party has so far announced 46 names for the February 23 elections.
