The Meghalaya government today announced minor hike in wages for labourers and workers in the state, the second time in five years.
In a statement here, Labour department principal secretary said the revised wages will take effect from April 1 this year wherein various categories of workers are entitled to be paid.
"The Government of Meghalaya has revised the Minimum Wages in respect of the Schedule of Employments w.E.F. 1st April, 2017," Labour department principal secretary said in a statement here.

According to the notification, the variable Dearness Allowance has been rounded off to the next higher rupee.
The last time the Congress government hiked the wages of these category of workers was in October 2015.
The state government had in July last year constituted the Fifth Pay Commission to revise the salary of nearly 1 lakh government servants.
The report of the commission is expected anytime soon.
