Meghe, Vora elected Vice-Presidents of football body WIFA

Two new candidates, MLA Sameer Meghe and Haresh K Vora, both from Nagpur, were among the five elected as Vice-Presidents of the Western India Football Association (WIFA).

The elections held during the 66th Ordinary General Meeting of the association at Cooperage Stadium here yesterday.

Sitting Vice-Presidents, Viswajeet Kadam (Pune), Maloje Raje Chhatrapati (Kolhapur) and Syed Liaquat Hussain (Aurangabad), all retained their posts as they were re- elected. Eight candidates were in the fray for the five posts.

The Treasurer's position was won by incumbent, Pyarelal Choudhary (Pune), who will continue for another term.

Mumbai's U Banerjee was re-elected as WIFA (Western India Football Association) Executive Committee member. The MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Secretary was among the 13 Executive Committee Members elected from the 16 contestants.
 

Earlier, Praful Patel (Bhandara) and Souter Vaz (Mumbai), had both retained their positions as WIFA President and Honorary Secretary respectively as they were elected unopposed.

The electoral picked new faces for all the three Assistant Secretaries' posts. Kiran Chougule (Solapur), Salim Parkote (Latur) and Sushil Kumar Surve (Amravati) were elected from among the five candidates who were contesting for the post.

The newly elected WIFA Committee:

President: Praful Patel (Bhandara). Vice-Presidents (5 posts): Viswajeet Kadam (Pune), Maloje Raje Chhatrapati (Kolhapur), Syed Liaquat Hussain (Aurangabad), Haresh K. Vora (Nagpur), Sameer Meghe (Nagpur) Secretary: Souter Vaz (Mumbai).

Treasurer: Pyarelal Choudhary (Pune).

Assistant Secretary (3 posts): Kiran Chougule (Solapur), Salim Parkote (Latur) and Sushil Kumar Surve (Amravati).

Committee Members (13 posts): Sunil Dhande (Beed), Deepak Dixit (Chandrapur), Ahmed Lalani (Gondia), Azgar Husain Patel (Hingoli), Sardar Momin (Kolhapur), Khaja (Sajid) Raziuddin Ansari (Nanded), Vasant Gulzarilal Agarwal (Sangli), Ravindra Darekar (Gadchiroli), Godwin S Dick (Ahmednagar), Anand Kalokar (Wardha), P V Ahale (Yavatmal), U Banerjee (Mumbai) and Abdul Rauf (Amravati).
