BJP leader Meghraj Jain was today elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha in a by-election.
Madhya Pradesh Assembly's principal secretary and returning officer Bhagwan Dev Israni handed over a certificate to Jain in this regard, as nobody else had filed nomination papers when the deadline expired at 3 pm today.
The election was necessitated after senior BJP leader Kaptan Singh Solanki resigned as Rajya Sabha member following his appointment as Haryana governor.
Jain said he was grateful to the party for giving him nomination.
