The Peoples Democratic Party today welcomed the Union Health Ministry's decision to open four medical institutions in the state, saying such a step would significantly improve health facilities.
Addressing a function here, party chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed her gratitude to Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad for sanctioning two cancer institutes and four medical colleges in the state.
Such a move would remarkably improve health facilities and medical educational opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir, she said.

The function was organised to welcome political worker Gulzar Ahmad Dar and his supporters from Noorabad constituency in South Kashmir into the party fold.
Mehbooba said there was need and scope for upgradation of advance medical facilities in the state, especially in the field of treatment of cancer for which many people go outside the state involving a huge expenditure.
The establishment of medical colleges will open new avenues for talented youths of the state, she said.
The PDP chief demanded setting up of medical colleges in Pir Panchal region of Poonch and Rajouri districtds.
Slamming the NC-led government in the state, Mehbooba alleged misgovernance and corruption were its hallmarkcs.
