Both the leaders had a one-to-one meeting wherein they referred to the civilisational linkages and close ties between the two countries. They had stimulating discussions on issues of mutual interest, especially with regard to parliamentary practices and proceedings.
First Lady Aneetah Purryag fondly recollected her previous meetings with the Speaker both in India and Mauritius.
Kumar also recalled the visit of Rajkeswur Purryag as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Mauritius and his six- member delegation to the Parliament of India in March last year.
An Indian Parliamentary delegation led by Kumar had visited Mauritius in January, 2010 and visited the National Assembly there and watched the proceedings.
