Comedienne Joan Rivers' daughter Melissa has revealed that last month she scattered some of the legend's ashes in Wyoming, US, where the family used to vacation each year.

Friday will mark the one-year anniversary of Joan's death due to complications from a surgical procedure. She was 81.

"Coop (brother Cooper) and I took our annual family vacation to Wyoming. (The) first without my mom and scattered some of her ashes there so we can still be together every August as a family."

Melissa, who stepped into her mom's role as host of E!'s "Fashion Police" when it returned to the air on Monday, plans to mark the anniversary of her mother's death in a very low-key way, reported People magazine.

"Everyone expects me to have this big grand plan for the 4th and I am just going to be spending it with my son. He is going to go to school, I am going to go to work and come home, light a candle, and have a glass of wine."

"Cooper and I talk about what would be the best way to honour her legacy and the best way to honour her legacy is to be okay," Melissa, 47, said.
