Member of dreaded gangs arrested

Police have arrested an alleged member of the dreaded Neetu Dabodhia and Rishi Surakhpuriya gangs active in Najafgarh area of southwest Delhi, who had been evading court proceedings and was declared a proclaimed offender.

The accused, Nitin Dutta, who is wanted in a case of attempt to murder in Rajouri Garden, was arrested near Cantonment area by a Crime Branch team, said Ravindra Yadav, joint commissioner of police (Crime).

In 2011, Dutta along with Rishi Surakhpuriya, Sandeep Gaba and their associates had tried to coerce a businessman Manmohan Singh for joining his business. Dutta had fired in the air to threaten Singh.
 

He was arrested in the case and later released on bail. He was declared a proclaimed offender in the case in 2015, said the officer.

Dutta came in contact with members of Rishi Surakhpuriya and Neetu Dabodhia gangs after finishing his graduation from Delhi University.

In 2002, he was arrested in a case of dacoity and was convicted for seven years. After coming out of jail, he joined Rishi Surakhpuriya and started extorting money from businessmen and property dealers, added the officer.
