The matter related to certification of 'Udta Punjab' today found mention in a meeting of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Mumbai.

Sources said that some members referred to the implications of the recent order of the Bombay High Court which significantly reduced the number of cuts suggested by the board in the drug-themed film 'Udta Punjab'.

"There was a casual mention of the matter related to 'Udta Punjab' and it was felt that once the recommendations of the Shyam Benegal Committee are put in place, the new system will be such that there are less situations of this kind," a source said.

The source, however, said that since the item was not on the agenda, this issue was not discussed in detail.

In the meeting, some CBFC members also objected to the proposed digital format for submission of films, citing high cost and other reasons.

The CBFC is planning this digital format to prevent leak.

"There were some disagreements about the format but the Chairman offered that explanations would be provided," the source said.

There was also suggestion for holding the meeting of the board at least once every three months.
