Membership of rebel JD(U) leader and former minister Mahachandra Prasad Singh was today terminated from Bihar Legislative Council for indulging in anti-party activities.

The termination order was given by Chairperson of state Legislative Council Awdesh Narayan Singh.

Mahachandra Prasad Singh had unsuccessfully fought recent Assembly elections on Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) ticket from Hatua in Gopalganj district.

JD(U) Chief Whip in the Council Sanjay Kumar Singh had written to the Chairperson for cancellation of membership of Mahachandra Prasad Singh and two others on charge of anti-party activities.

Sources in the office of Council Chairperson confirmed termination of membership of Mahachandra Prasad Singh.

Hearing in cases of two others -- former ministers Narendra Singh and Samrat Chaudhary -- have been fixed for December 5.

Meanwhile, Mahachandra Prasad Singh contested the decision and said he would challenge the termination in the court.
