Two unidentified motorbike-borne youths allegedly decamped with a suitcase containing jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh from a car after diverting the attention of its occupants in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area here.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon when Tasmeet Singh (30) and his father Surender, residents of Rajouri Garden, were travelling to their jewellery showroom in their Audi car.

There were two bags in the rear seat of the car, one had jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh while the other one contained their lunch boxes. When they stopped at a traffic signal at Moti Nagar, two men who were wearing helmets reached beside the car and knocked at their window.

"When Tasmeet rolled down the window, the duo told him that something was leaking from the car's rear portion. As Tasmeet got off the car to check, his father followed him only to find that nothing was wrong with the car. When they returned, they realised that the two bags were missing and so were the two men who had alerted them," said a police officer.

The victims then informed police. The robbers have not been identified yet as they were wearing helmets at the time of the crime. A case in this connection has been registered at Punjabi Bagh police station and efforts are being made to identify and nab the suspects, police said.
